Berlin - (Saba):
Nine passengers, including a child and a woman, were injured when a Ryanair plane en route to Milan, Italy, was forced to make an emergency landing in Bavaria, southern Germany, after encountering severe turbulence caused by a thunderstorm.
Bavarian police said in a statement that weather conditions forced the pilot to make an emergency landing in Memmingen, about 113 kilometers west of Munich.
Police said nine people, aged between two and 59, were injured in the turbulence, despite the plane landing safely.
The Ryanair plane was carrying 179 passengers and six crew members on a flight from Berlin to Milan, Italy, when it encountered severe turbulence caused by severe weather conditions.
Since the South Bavarian Aviation Authority has not granted approval for the flight to resume, the company is currently arranging buses to transport the passengers to their final destination.
Ryanair did not immediately comment on the incident.
