Amran – Saba:
A meeting in Amran governorate on Sunday, led by Governor Dr. Faisal Juma'an, addressed preventive measures to control the spread of acute watery diarrhea as part of the governorate's response strategy.
The meeting, attended by the Deputy Governor and directors of relevant offices, including the Health and Environment Office, reviewed efforts to contain the disease, preventive actions taken, the work of health teams in managing cases, and treatment protocols.
Discussions also covered the roles of various offices in supporting the health sector's fight against acute watery diarrhea, including implementing interventions, supporting treatment centers, and providing necessary medical supplies.
Governor Juma'an emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts among relevant agencies to support the health sector in combating and limiting the disease's spread.
He stressed the need for enhanced coordination and intensified field work, particularly involving the agriculture sector, the Rural Water Projects Authority, the Local Water and Sanitation Corporation, and security agencies, to prevent the import of sewage-irrigated vegetables and to enhance oversight of farms and water wells used for sale.
The governor also highlighted the importance of increasing community awareness and education about acute watery diarrhea prevention, emphasizing personal hygiene and thorough washing of produce.
Dr. Yasser al-Jumai, the director of the governorate's Epidemiological Surveillance Department, outlined the causes, prevention methods, and the Health Office's plan to confront, contain, and reduce the incidence of watery diarrhea.
