Hodeida - Saba:
Minister of Transport and Public Works Mohammed Qahim and Al Hodeida Governor Abdullah Atifi inaugurated several road projects and laid the foundation stone for service projects in the health and education sectors in the northern districts of Al Hodeida province.

The total cost of these projects amounts to 1 billion, 713 million, and 288 thousand Yemeni riyals.

The completed projects included the first phase of paving Al-Qanawas-Al-Mughlaf-Al-Kadan road, costing 599 million and 344 thousand riyals, funded by the Local Council. The project was designed and supervised by the province’s Public Works Sector , implemented by the Road and Bridge Maintenance Fund.

Additionally, the foundation stone was laid for the second phase of the same project, costing 571 million and 269 thousand riyals. Other projects inaugurated included flood protection measures, such as expanding the Al-Jilaniyah culvert in Al-Qanawas District and constructing a surface bridge in Al-Dahi District, at a cost of 242 million and 684 thousand riyals, funded by the Road and Bridge Maintenance Fund.

The implemented projects also included comprehensive maintenance of Al Hodeida -Al-Khashm road, involving asphalt paving and various engineering repairs, funded by the Road Maintenance Fund at a total cost of 300 million riyals.

In the health and education sectors, the foundation stone was laid for constructing a CT scan building at Al-Zaydiyah Hospital, costing 76 million and 527 thousand riyals, and for the rehabilitation of the Hafsa Educational Complex for Girls in the same district, costing 51 million and 166 thousand riyals.

To improve urban infrastructure, new road construction projects were launched in several neighborhoods across Al-Zaydiyah, Al-Qanawas, and Al-Luhiyah districts, costing 300 million riyals. These projects are funded by the Local Council, implemented by the Executive Unit for Projects , Maintenance, and supervised by the province’s Public Works Sector.

During the inauguration ceremony, Minister Qahim emphasized that these projects align with the ministry’s plan to implement a comprehensive national vision aimed at enhancing development in coastal provinces and linking them to strategic axes that support economic and social growth. He noted that improving rural and urban road networks is a current priority, as infrastructure is a cornerstone for advancing services and improving citizens' livelihoods.

Qahim explained that flood protection projects, culvert expansions, and bridge constructions address urgent needs to enhance road network resilience against natural disasters, particularly during rainy seasons. He stressed the ministry’s commitment to quality execution through direct technical oversight and adherence to engineering standards, highlighting the integrated efforts between the government, local authorities, and funding agencies.

Governor Atifi affirmed that Al Hodeida is witnessing significant developmental progress under the directives of revolutionary and political leadership, with cooperation between central and local authorities. He stated that the inaugurated projects mark a strong step toward advancing infrastructure and alleviating hardships in northern districts.

Atifi added that ongoing efforts aim to complete additional projects currently in planning, emphasizing the province’s commitment to overcoming challenges through coordination with relevant ministries and funding entities.

The event was attended by Deputy Governor for Northern Districts Affairs Ghalib Hamzah, Northern Axis Commander Major General Fadhel Al-Dhayani, and Public Works Sector Engineer Mohammed Muthanna, who confirmed that these projects underwent thorough technical studies to ensure impact.

District Directors Hassan Al-Ahdal (Al-Zaydiyah) and Mohammed Al-Qawzi (Al-Qanawas) stated that these projects directly address citizens' needs, reflecting the government’s dedication to serving northern districts.
