Gaza - Saba:
Basem Naim, a leader in the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), confirmed last night that his movement had not rejected the proposal of US Special Envoy to the Middle East Steven Witkoff, and that they had agreed with him last week on a proposal that he considered acceptable for negotiations.
The other party (the Israeli enemy) then responded to it.
Naim indicated in a statement that the enemy's response does not agree with any of the terms agreed upon by Hamas and Witkoff and does not meet the minimum demands of the Palestinian people.
Naim added, "Nevertheless, we responded positively and with great responsibility, taking into account the horrors experienced by the Palestinian people, and we responded to them in a way that met our minimum demands."
The Hamas leader explained that Hamas's foremost demands include ensuring that the enemy respects the temporary 60-day truce, ensuring the entry of sufficient humanitarian aid through the UN mechanisms, and ensuring that these negotiations lead to an end to the war and the withdrawal of enemy forces.
Basem Naim asked, "Why is the Israeli response considered every time the only response to be negotiated?" He emphasized that this violates the integrity and fairness of mediation and constitutes complete bias toward the other party.
On Saturday evening, Hamas announced that it had submitted its response to Witkov's latest proposal to the mediators regarding a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, following a round of national consultations, "based on our high responsibility toward our people and their suffering."
