Tehran - Saba:
The spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry stated that the false report issued by Austria’s intelligence agency regarding Iran’s peaceful nuclear program would undermine the credibility of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
According to the Iranian news agency IRNA, Nasser Kanaani, on Friday, described the Austrian intelligence agency’s allegations casting doubt on the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program as "baseless and false claims," fabricated solely to create a negative media atmosphere against the Islamic Republic of Iran, thus lacking any credibility or reliability. He demanded an official clarification from the Austrian government.
Referring to Iran’s membership in the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and the transparent nature of its nuclear program, which is subject to strict IAEA inspections, Kanaani argued that the Austrian intelligence agency’s actions had weakened the IAEA’s credibility.
He emphasized that Iran strongly opposes nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction (WMDs) and firmly supports the idea of a WMD-free West Asia. In contrast, he criticized Austria and some other European countries for their deliberate silence on the Zionist regime’s possession of various WMDs. By fully supporting this "genocidal and occupying regime," he said, they hinder the establishment of a WMD-free Middle East.
Kanaani condemned the Austrian intelligence agency’s dissemination of lies and demanded an official explanation from the Austrian government regarding this "irresponsible, provocative, and destructive behavior" by an official institution in the country.
It is worth noting that the Austrian intelligence agency claimed in a report that the Islamic Republic of Iran is still actively pursuing the development of its nuclear weapons program and has no intention of abandoning it.
