Palestinian source reveals causes behind stumbled talks on ceasefire

Beirut - Saba:

A Palestinian source revealed details of the recent negotiations between the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and the Zionist enemy in the Qatari capital, Doha, which ended with the talks stalling and the withdrawal of the Zionist delegation from the Qatari capital.

The source, familiar with the negotiations, explained to Quds Press Agency on Sunday that "the decision of the enemy Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, to withdraw the Zionist negotiating delegation from Doha a few days ago was part of a showy move aimed at placing the responsibility for the stalled negotiations on Hamas. This is an attempt to circumvent external pressure, particularly from the United States and Europe, demanding that he stop the war, in addition to the mounting internal pressure within the enemy community."

The source, who requested anonymity, added that the Israeli delegation presented four conditions for a permanent ceasefire: the release of all Israeli prisoners, whether alive or dead, Hamas' complete disarmament, the withdrawal of the movement's leadership from the Gaza Strip, and the final exclusion of Hamas from any role in governing the Strip.

The source described these conditions as "unacceptable," noting that "their goal is to derail the negotiations, which Netanyahu believes are beginning to tighten the noose around him, especially given the existence of a parallel, direct negotiating track between Washington and Hamas in Doha. This angers Netanyahu and pushes him to escalate and intensify the military aggression against the Gaza Strip."

The source explained that Hamas categorically rejected these conditions and informed the mediators that it would not accept the demands presented by the enemy.

The enemy forces renewed their aggression on the Gaza Strip at dawn on March 18, 2025, by launching airstrikes across the Strip, killing and wounding more than 12,000 Palestinians. This reversal of a ceasefire agreement with Palestinian resistance factions, which had been in effect for about 60 days since its conclusion with American, Egyptian, and Qatari mediation.
