Gaza - SABA:
Philippe Lazzarini, Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), affirmed that the aid plan proposed by the Israeli occupation in Gaza will not succeed.
Lazzarini stated in a post on the platform "X": "I do not believe such a model will succeed, and it appears this model was designed to support a military objective rather than genuine humanitarian concern."
He added that it is not possible for a humanitarian organization that truly respects fundamental humanitarian principles to comply with such a plan.
The Israeli occupation plans to impose an alternative mechanism for aid distribution through centers controlled by the enemy army, which would exclude large segments of the population—particularly people with disabilities and the elderly—from receiving essential aid.
According to the World Food Programme, nearly two million people are at risk of severe hunger and famine if immediate action is not taken to facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip.
