Dhamar - Saba:
The activities of the exhibition showcasing the outcomes of the Self-Sufficiency and Food Processing Program concluded on Wednesday in Dhamar.

The event was organized by the local branch of the National Women’s Committee, the Subcommittee for Summer Schools, and the Dhamar Rural Development Association.

Supported by the General Authority for the Development of Small and Micro Enterprises, the exhibition—held as part of summer activities for girls—featured handicrafts and food products that reflected the level of training and qualification programs received by the participating girls.

During the closing ceremony, Dr. Ashwaq Al-Mahdi, head of the National Women’s Committee branch in Dhamar, emphasized that the implementation of the Self-Sufficiency and Food Processing Program aligns with the directives of the Revolution Leader and the government of Change and Reconstruction. The program aims to raise awareness about the importance of self-sufficiency and food processing.

She noted that the program was integrated into summer school activities, training girls in home-based food processing skills to benefit society and improve living conditions, particularly under current economic circumstances.

Al-Mahdi stated that the summer activities for self-sufficiency and food processing included 24 training courses, combining theoretical lessons and practical skills in preparing and producing various high-quality homemade food items. These products were free of preservatives, featuring natural flavors and authentic tastes.

She praised the efforts of the trainers and the active participation of the trainees, highlighting that the exhibition displayed a variety of food products, including jams, pickles, concentrated fruit juices, dried vegetables, and dairy derivatives.

Al-Mahdi explained that these activities are part of broader efforts to encourage society toward self-sufficiency, enhance food security indicators, and eventually transform these initiatives into future economic projects.

She also appreciated the support of local authorities, the General Authority for the Development of Small and Micro Enterprises, the Subcommittee for Summer Schools, the Dhamar Rural Development Association, and all contributors to the program’s success.

For her part, Jalila Sharhan, Director of Girls' Education at the Education Sector, commended the National Women’s Committee’s efforts in implementing the Self-Sufficiency and Food Processing Program within the summer school activities in the city district.

She affirmed that the food products resulting from these activities reflect the success of women’s economic empowerment programs, enhancing their role in driving sustainable development.
