Al-Quds warns of dangerous escalation in city due to "Flag March"
[Wed, 21 May 2025 17:29:11 +0300]

Occupied al-Quds- Saba:

Al-Quds governorate on Wednesday warned of a dangerous escalation in the occupied city in the coming days, as Israeli authorities continue to organize a series of Judaization settlement activities aimed at imposing Israeli sovereignty over the city of al-Quds and consolidating the status quo of occupation by force, in flagrant violation of international law and relevant UN resolutions.

The governorate stated in a statement on Wednesday that Israeli police had announced the date and map of the so-called provocative "Flag March," scheduled for next Monday.

It indicated that the march will start from Al-Buraq Square, passing through Bab al-Amud and the al-Wad neighborhood within the Old City, areas densely populated with Palestinians.

Al-Quds emphasized that this annual march is part of a systematic provocative agenda, usually accompanied by attacks on Jerusalemites and the chanting of racist slogans against Muslims and Christians, under heavy protection from the Israeli police, who will impose a complete closure of the area starting at 12:30 p.m.

It added that the Israeli municipality has called for a bicycle marathon to be held on Friday, May 23.

The governorate considered this to be an exploitation of sporting events to impose an unacceptable political reality, by closing the city's streets from the evening of Thursday, May 22, until the following morning, in an attempt to consolidate Israeli control over Jerusalem by promoting the manifestations of sovereignty in the occupied city under international law.

Al-Quds Governorate stated that settlers continue their public incitement and promotion of what they call the laying of the "foundation stone for the alleged temple" by former US President Donald Trump on the ruins of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque.

It explained that this step represents an extension of the plan to strip Islamic sovereignty over the mosque and to perpetuate the biblical narrative at the expense of Arab, Islamic, and Christian rights in Jerusalem.

Al-Quds considered these activities, with their aggressive settlement nature, to constitute a direct assault on the lives of Palestinians in the city. Neighborhoods are under siege, citizens are prevented from moving, shops are forcibly closed, and journalists and media crews are subjected to repeated violations during coverage.

It emphasized that these activities, no matter how intense, will not change the established fact that Jerusalem is the eternal capital of the State of Palestine, and that all Judaization attempts will fail in the face of the will of its steadfast people and the support of the world's free people.

The governorate held the international community and the United Nations responsible for their silence and inaction in the face of this systematic escalation, and called for a clear and explicit condemnation of these Judaization activities and for serious action to halt them immediately.

It also warned of the dangers of the "Greater Jerusalem" project that the Israeli enemy government seeks to implement by annexing the surrounding settlements and towns, building massive roads to connect these settlements, and imposing a fait accompli separating Jerusalem from its Palestinian diaspora.

Al-Quds governorate called on free peoples, parliaments, and international human rights organizations to take urgent action to curb the Israeli enemy, put an end to its violations, expose its racist practices, and stand with the people of Jerusalem in their battle for survival and steadfastness.
