Belgrade - (Saba):
Dusan Pijatovic, CEO of Serbiagas, announced that the Russian and Serbian sides are currently discussing a long-term contract to supply 2.5 billion cubic meters of gas annually for a period of 3 to 10 years.
Pjatović said, "We will receive 2.5 billion cubic meters of gas annually for at least 3 years and a maximum of 10 years."
He added, "We will ensure market stability so that there is no speculation. 8 million cubic meters of gas will be supplied from Russia, in addition to 4 million cubic meters per day. These additional quantities are the most risky that the contract will specify. There will also be 2 million cubic meters per day from Azerbaijan."
He continued, "There will be 2 or 3 million cubic meters per day from Hungary, which we will keep in Hungary. Therefore, as far as the heating season and gas quantities are concerned, we are completely safe."
"The calculation will be based on the oil equation (related to the price of oil) with the stock market price component... and we must agree on how to handle the risks under this contract," Pijatović told Prva TV.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said on May 9 that during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, they held talks on a new long-term gas supply agreement for Serbia. Pijatović was in Russia at the time as part of the Serbian delegation and was again in negotiations with Gazprom last week.
Serbian Mining and Energy Minister Dubravka Djedović reported on April 8 that Serbia, with Russian participation, had begun expanding the country's largest underground gas storage facility, Banatski Dvor, to a capacity of 750 million cubic meters. The facility, located in northern Serbia and shared equally with state-owned Serbiagas and Gazprom, currently has a capacity of approximately 500 million cubic meters.
