News reports indicate that the administration of US President Donald Trump has begun attempting to launch a new round of negotiations aimed at reaching an agreed-upon framework for the release of prisoners and ending the war.
According to reports citing Hamas and Egyptian sources involved in the negotiations, the understandings include opening indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas, with the United States serving as the primary mediator.
The understandings are expected to include a ceasefire or truce lasting between three weeks and forty days. During this period, six prisoners—two of whom are alive and four whose bodies were returned to Israel—who hold American citizenship will be released.
