UN spokesman Stéphane Dujarric said that the number of daily meals provided to Palestinians in the Gaza Strip decreased by 70 percent this week compared to last week.
In statements during a press conference at UN headquarters in New York on Tuesday, he stressed the importance of UN teams entering Gaza and identifying the needs of Palestinians on the ground.
The UN spokesman noted that the number of daily meals in the Gaza Strip decreased from 840,000 meals last week to 260,000, a 70 percent decrease.
Dujarric emphasized that humanitarian aid is not limited to food alone, pointing to the need to provide water, health, nutrition, education, and protection services directly to Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
He warned that fuel is running out in health and water facilities within the Palestinian Strip, which Israel has maintained a tight blockade of since last March. He said: "Healthcare in Gaza is on the brink of collapse, as hospitals face large numbers of wounded amid a severe shortage of basic supplies, equipment, blood, and medical personnel."
The Zionist enemy has continued its genocidal crimes against the Palestinians of the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, including killing, destruction, starvation, and forced displacement, ignoring all international appeals and orders from the International Court of Justice to halt them.
This US-backed war has left more than 172,000 Palestinians dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 11,000 missing.
