Researchers reported that childhood obesity increases a person's risk of experiencing discrimination because of their weight, and the risk of experiencing discrimination or stigma due to their weight may nearly triple.

The researchers said that severe obesity before the age of 18 increases a person's likelihood of experiencing weight stigma by 2.8 times, which is characterized by negative or discriminatory behaviors related to a person's weight or size.
