Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu announced that NATO and the European Union have launched programs aimed at preparing the West for a direct military conflict with Russia.
Sputnik quoted Shoigu as saying last night in an article published in Rossiyskaya Gazeta: "Incited and supported by London and Paris, European elites continue to make loud statements about the need to inflict a 'strategic defeat' on Russia."
He added: "It doesn't stop there. In keeping with this disturbing noise, NATO and the European Union have launched programs aimed at preparing the West for a direct military confrontation with Russia.
These aggressive steps, in addition to NATO's continued eastward advance toward Russia's borders, are justified by anti-Russian fabrications, similar to Goebbels' propaganda."
