Gaza – Saba:
Dr. Ahmed Al-Farra, head of the pediatric department at Nasser Medical Complex, warned on Saturday of an imminent health catastrophe threatening the lives of hundreds of thousands of residents in Gaza Strip.
He stated that the Strip is "facing a massive wave of deaths due to malnutrition" if the humanitarian situation remains unchanged.
In a press statement, Al-Farra confirmed that over the past two months, no food supplies, infant formula, or nutritional supplements have entered Gaza due to the complete blockade imposed.
He explained that the situation is deteriorating day by day like a snowball, especially after fuel ran out in houses , warehouses, and vegetables became unavailable due to the control over the southern and eastern areas of the Strip.
He pointed out that 2.3 million people are now living under severe food insecurity, adding, "We are observing an increase in cases of underweight children, a sharp decline in physical mass, hair loss, , clear physical and psychological changes among children."
Al-Farra warned that the Strip could witness, in a very short period, a large number of deaths unless immediate action is taken by opening the crossings.
Since October 7, 2023, the enemy has been committing genocidal crimes in Gaza, resulting in over 170,000 martyrs and wounded, most of them children and women, along with more than 11,000 missing persons, amid massive destruction.
