On Friday, an Illinois court issued a 53-year prison sentence to Joseph Chuba for killing a 6-year-old Palestinian child, for a crime of hate with racist motives.
The court had convicted Chuba last February for first -degree murder and hatred, a week after the outbreak of the war between the Israeli entity and Hamas in October 2023.
He was sentenced to 30 years in prison for killing the child, 20 years for trying to kill his mother, and three years because of his racist motives.
Hanan Shaheen, 32, who survived, and her son Wadih Al -Fayoumi (6 years old), who died in the hospital on October 14, 2023, was convicted near Chicago.
The Prosecutor said that Shaheen contacted the police in 2023 after Chubia stormed her room and stabbed it several times. She managed to reach the bathroom and closed his door to seek help, and at this time Chuba attacked her child.
Public Prosecutor James Glasgow added in a statement: "The cruelty of this ethical and ethical killer, and the impact of his violent behavior on this child and the innocent mother is really inconsistent."
Chuba, who has been in detention since he committed the murder, has denied the eight charges against him.
The police said that the two victims "targeted the suspect because they were Muslims and because of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East between Hamas and the Israelis," explaining that the child was stabbed 26 times.
During the autopsy, an serrated military knife with a 15 cm blade was removed from the child's abdomen.
