Tunis - Saba:

Massive public demonstrations and marches were held Monday in various Tunisian cities to condemn the ongoing Zionist aggression against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, and in solidarity with their legitimate struggle against the Zionist killing machine.

These marches came in response to the calls of several civil society organizations, unions, and student unions, and within the framework of the Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.

The marches were also called for by the General Union of Tunisian Students, with widespread participation from university and institute students from across the country.

The marches started in front of institutes and universities across Tunisia, concentrating on Habib Bourguiba Avenue in front of the Municipal Theater in the center of the capital, Tunis.

The demonstrators raised Palestinian and Tunisian flags and chanted slogans affirming the unity of destiny and popular solidarity with the Palestinian cause, and rejecting the crimes of genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank.

The protesters chanted slogans of support for Palestine, denouncing the inactive international stance in the face of the ongoing massacres, and affirming that victory is inevitable for the steadfast Palestinian people.

During the march, student Fares Khaled, from the Higher School of Science and Design Technologies in the Dendane area of Bardo, was martyred after falling while attempting to pin the Palestinian flag to one of the institute's masts. The Embassy of the State of Palestine in Tunisia mourned the martyred student, praising his high national spirit and genuine solidarity.

The marches, as a whole, affirmed that the Palestinian cause has been and will remain alive in the conscience of the Tunisian people, and that the popular struggle against the Zionist enemy enjoys broad popular support from all segments of Tunisian society.
