Buenos Aires - Saba:
The Argentine national football team qualified for the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, after defeating its traditional rival, Brazil, 4-1, in today's match, Wednesday, in the fourteenth round of the South American qualifiers for the World Cup.
Argentina has become a thorn in Brazil's side. Since losing to Brazil in the 2019 Copa America semi-finals, the teammates of star Lionel Messi, who missed this match due to injury, have won four times, drawing one, and also won the first leg in November 2023, 1-0, at the famous Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro.
Brazil is in fourth place in the standings with 21 points, 10 points behind Argentina, but only two points behind second-placed Ecuador, who drew 0-0 with Chile. Uruguay is in third place with 21 points, on goal difference ahead of Brazil. Paraguay is in fifth place, while Colombia is in sixth place with 20 points, and Venezuela is in seventh place with 15 points.
