New York - Saba:
UN Secretary-General António Guterres expressed his "shock" on Tuesday at the Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip, calling for an urgent ceasefire and the release of prisoners.
The UN stated in an official statement on its website: "The Secretary-General of the United Nations expresses his shock at the Israeli airstrikes on Gaza, which resulted in the deaths of a large number of civilians."
Guterres called for the need to adhere to the ceasefire, resume the unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid, and unconditionally release the remaining prisoners.
This statement comes after the Israeli army resumed its airstrikes on the Gaza Strip overnight Monday to Tuesday.
