Gaza - SABA:
The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) stated on Thursday that the Zionist enemy forces' storming of six UNRWA schools in occupied Quds, forcibly evacuating students and teachers before shutting them down, constitutes a blatant violation of international laws and conventions.
In a press statement, Hamas emphasized that this Zionist assault on UNRWA schools represents a direct attack on the United Nations system and its institutions. The movement added that this criminal act is part of the enemy’s comprehensive war against Palestinian existence and identity, particularly in occupied Quds, as part of its frenzied efforts to impose complete Judaization on the city.
Hamas called on the United Nations, its agencies, and all relevant international bodies to take immediate and effective action to halt these criminal violations, pressure for the reopening of the schools, and ensure the return of over 800 Palestinian children to their classrooms.
Forced Closures Under Military Escort
Earlier on Thursday, Zionist enemy police, accompanied by municipal crews and the so-called "Ministry of Education," shut down UNRWA schools in Shuafat refugee camp, Wadi al-Joz, and the towns of Silwan and Sur Baher in occupied Quds.
Salim Al-Anati, head of the Jerusalem Association, reported that enemy police and officials raided the camp’s schools, posted closure orders, and gave school administrators, students, and staff one hour to evacuate and shut down the facilities.
According to Palestinian Safa News Agency, the schools in Shuafat camp witnessed chaos and panic among students and staff as enemy forces deployed across schoolyards and surrounding areas, forcing everyone out at gunpoint.
