The office of the General Authority for Zakat in Sana'a province launched on Saturday a field awareness campaign in the markets and shops in the center of the province on the importance of paying Zakat.
At the launch, which was attended by the director of neighborhood affairs in the province, Ahmed Rajeh, the director of the new Sana'a district, Abdullah al-Marouni, and the technical education official in the province, Aziz al-Rajali. He called on taxpayers to turn in their zakat to enrich their souls and develop their money.
Ibrahim Hamiduddin, the office's outreach manager, explained that the campaign includes distributing brochures and posters in markets , shops, and conducting awareness programs through mosque preachers and media outlets on zakat-related aspects.
He urged merchants, taxpayers and those who have reached the nisab to hand over the zakat due to enable the authority to implement its projects in accordance with Sharia banks.
