The Anti-Smuggling Unit, in coordination with the Taiz Customs and Control Office, seized a large quantity of smuggled medicines inside a smugglers' warehouse, a qualitative security achievement that reflects the high vigilance and joint coordination between official agencies.
The Director General of the Taiz Customs and Control Office, Mohammed Al-Mahfdi, explained to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that the operation was based on close monitoring, follow-up, and intensive investigations. The smuggled quantity was seized while the smugglers were attempting to unload and transport the medicines on a motorcycle, in preparation for smuggling them.
He reported that the seized quantity included more than 12,050 strips, 14,602 ampoules of medicine, 691 vials, 257 medical supplies, 87 tablets, and 1,279 boxes of pills, drops, and syrup.
Al-Mahfdi praised this success, which was achieved through the efforts of the leadership and personnel of the Anti-Smuggling Unit, as well as the high professionalism and fruitful cooperation between all parties involved in the operation.
He called for strengthening coordination and developing joint working mechanisms between relevant parties to ensure the continuation of these successes.
He emphasized that customs represent the first line of defense to protect society and the economy from the scourge of smuggling, emphasizing the importance of supporting the capabilities of anti-smuggling units and providing them with the necessary resources to confront the sophisticated methods used by smugglers.
