Sana'a – SABA:

The General Federation of Yemeni Chambers of Commerce and Industry has expressed its appreciation for the statements made by the spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, Stéphane Dujarric, calling for the exclusion of the Yemeni private sector from any measures or classifications that could negatively impact the national economy.

In a statement received by the Yemeni News Agency (SABA), the Federation urged all international organizations to intensify their efforts in this regard and called on the U.S. Treasury Department to reconsider its recent classifications. These included placing the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce, businessman Ali Mohammed Al-Hadi, on the sanctions list, a decision that could have severe humanitarian and economic consequences for Yemen.

During a press conference, the UN Secretary-General’s spokesperson warned against any obstruction to the flow of commercial goods into Yemen, emphasizing that such actions—stemming from the U.S. Treasury's classification—could lead to catastrophic consequences.

He also highlighted the crucial role of the Yemeni private sector in meeting humanitarian needs and stressed the importance of keeping the private sector free from any measures or classifications that could harm the national economy.
