New York - Saba:
The World Bank estimated today, Tuesday, Ukraine's reconstruction needs at about $524 billion, three years after the start of the war with Russia.
The European Union Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos indicated, according to a joint statement by the World Bank, the United Nations, the European Commission, and the Ukrainian government, that this figure, estimated over ten years, is equivalent to 2.8 times Ukraine's gross domestic product in 2024.
According to the statement, 13% of the total housing stock was damaged or destroyed, affecting more than 2.5 million families.
Previous estimates had estimated the damage at 392 billion euros in February 2023, and 464 billion euros in March 2024, indicating an increasing need for funding due to the ongoing Russian attacks.
