Sana'a - Saba:
The Board of Directors of the Local Water and Sanitation Corporation in Al-Mahwit province discussed the status of the Corporation, its projects and its plan for the year 2025 in a meeting that included Al-Mahwit Governor - Chairman of the Board of Directors - Haneen Qatina & Deputy Minister of Electricity, Energy & Water Adel Bader.

The meeting, which was attended by the Secretary General of the province's local government, Dr. Ali Al-Zaykam, the deputy governor Ahmed Al-Qatma, and the directors of the local water and sanitation corporation in the province , Abdulghani Al-Qatma, and the water and environmental sanitation emergency unit, Abdulkarim Al-Akhram, discussed the province's needs for water projects , plans to enhance performance , activate the corporation's services , cover the districts with pure and safe drinking water projects.

The meeting approved the organization's administrative regulations and annual report for the year 2024, as well as water and sanitation subscription services in Al-Tawila city , Shibam district, and granting a 30 percent reduction in the debt of subscribers on the occasion of the arrival of the month of Ramadan.

At the meeting, Al-Mahwit governor emphasized the keenness of the provincial leadership to support the efforts of the Corporation in the province to perform its duty to improve drinking water services for citizens.

He appreciated the support of the leadership of the Electricity, Energy and Water Ministry for the newly established corporation, which will contribute to advancing its role and enhancing its performance level, stressing the need for concerted efforts to complete the ongoing and stalled projects in the province's districts.

The local water and sanitation director organization, Al-Qatma, presented a brief report on the organization's achievements in implementing projects , improving pure and safe water services with a coverage rate of up to 50 percent of the needs of the population of the targeted areas within the geographical scope of the organization , its branches, and reducing losses between 20 to 35 percent for water networks.

He pointed out that the Corporation sought to reduce the spread of pollution by improving and expanding the sewage project and rehabilitating treatment plants with a coverage rate of approximately 40 percent of the total population within the scope of its services, stressing that the Corporation is working to modernize and expand the automation system and started by establishing and activating the electronic networking system between the Corporation and its branches and activating the text message service for subscribers.

Abdul Ghani Al-Qatmeh emphasized the work to increase the collection of 66 to 88 percent of the total sales of the Corporation and its branches. He pointed out that the organization seeks to improve , expand water , sanitation services and cover as many projects as possible in the province with self-funding or seeking support from partners and donors.
