Gaza - Saba:
Member of the Political Bureau of the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas, Hussam Badran, confirmed that the ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement represents a Palestinian achievement and not for Hamas alone.
Badran said, in press statements, reported by the Palestinian Information Center last night: Our priorities are to stop the war, withdraw the occupation, return the displaced, and allow aid to enter Gaza.
Badran pointed out that Hamas continues to work to release prisoners, and it is free for the deal to include prisoners from various Palestinian factions.
Badran explained that the movement has technical committees and follow-up teams that deal with the various issues addressed in the agreement.
Badran considered that what is happening in the West Bank is a battle of fate.. indicating that it will be long and fierce.
On Wednesday evening, the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, announced that a ceasefire agreement had been reached in the Gaza Strip, which will go into effect next Sunday, January 19.
The first phase of the agreement, which will last for 42 days, includes Hamas releasing 33 male and female prisoners in exchange for Israel releasing about 2,000 Palestinian prisoners; including 250 sentenced to life imprisonment, and about 1,000 detainees after October 7, 2023.
The first phase includes five main headings: a ceasefire, an Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, the return of displaced persons and ensuring freedom of movement, the entry of humanitarian aid, and the exchange of prisoners.
With regard to the ceasefire, the formula of Security Council Resolution No. 2728 issued last March will be adhered to, which stipulates "sustainable calm leading to a permanent ceasefire", and ensuring the continuation of the three phases with the continuation of negotiations and the non-return to fighting.
