Panel formed to probe into NDC's member murder

SANA'A, Jan. 21 (Saba) - The Supreme Security Committee (SSC), in pursuance to President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi's directives, formed on Tuesday an inquiry panel to investigate the murder of a member of the National Dialogue Conference (NDC).

Unknown assailants shot dead early today NDC's member Ahmed Sharaf al-Din, while he was driving to attend the NDC's final session.

In its extraordinary meeting, the SSC also addressed an incident targeting a son of the President's adviser and NDC's Vice President Abdul-Wahab al-Anesi in Sana'a. Al-Anesi's son has survived the incident, but seriously wounded.

The committee instructed the panel to investigate al-Anesi's son incident as well.

It expressed its strong condemnation of the two incidents, saying they aimed to disrupt the security situation in the country and to influence the progress of the NDC, which is in its final stage. The Committee emphasized that it will do every effort to uncover the circumstances of the two incidents and arrest the perpetrators.

President Hadi, the Yemeni government and UN envoy to Yemen Jamal Benomar have offered their condolences to Sharaf al-Din's family, expressing their condemnation of the incident.
