TAIZ August 31. 2024 (Saba) - The Undersecretary of Taiz Governorate for Development and Services Affairs, Abdul Wasa Al-Shamsi, was briefed on Saturday on the extent of the damage caused by the "armyworm" to crops in the "Ali Agricultural Valley" in the district of Al-Esrar in At-Ta'iziyah district.
The Undersecretary, along with the Director of the At-Ta'iziyah district, Abdul Khaliq Al-Junaid, the Secretary-General of the Directorate, Mahmoud Bajash, and the Coordinator of the Bonyan Foundation, Salem Al-Ahdal, inspected the progress of agriculture in several citizens' farms in "Wadi Ali", and the large areas planted in the Shami corn crop, and the damage caused by the spread of the armyworm.
The solar agent directed the importance of accelerating the spraying and control process to avoid large losses for farmers in the event of continued infection with this insect, and in a way that contributes to the protection of maize as one of the priorities of crops.
He urged the implementation of a preventive initiative and the fight against this insect before it spreads, and moves to the rest of the district's district, which may pose a threat to crops.
