TOKYO August 30. 2024 (Saba) - The death toll from Typhoon Shanshan, which hit Kagoshima Prefecture in southwestern Japan, has risen to four people, and the number of injured has risen to 104.
Local media confirmed yesterday, Thursday, that three people were killed and five were missing due to a landslide in Oita Prefecture, while one person was killed in the city of Kamieta on Shikoku Island.
Typhoon Shanshan, the tenth of the current season, hit the coast of Kagoshima Prefecture on Kyushu Island last Wednesday morning.
The typhoon resulted in the cancellation of about 1,150 flights between August 29 and 30, and train traffic between Tokyo and Nagoya, and between Tokyo and Osaka, were suspended, and a number of expressways were closed.
