IBB August 29. 2024 (Saba) - The press secretary of the President of the Supreme Political Council, Sabri Al-Darwani, and the First Undersecretary of Ibb Governorate, Abdul Hamid Al-Shahri, were briefed on Thursday on the level of water flowing in the historic Haran and Dhi Ra'in dams in Yarim district due to heavy rains during the past days.
During the visit, Al-Darwani stressed the importance of optimizing the use of water in the two dams, taking advantage of the rainy season to irrigate crops, and encouraging farmers to plant various crops.
He pointed out that the projects of dams and water barriers translate the orientations of the revolutionary leadership, the Supreme Political Council, and the government of change and construction and their interest in water facilities to benefit from them, in harvesting rainwater and recharging groundwater.
He stressed the need to empty the increase in the water level in barriers and dams in the event of an increase in the volume of their level so as not to be exposed to danger, and lead to risks to citizens and their property.
The Undersecretary of the Governorate, Al-Shahiri, explained that the visit comes under the directives of the Minister of Administration and Local and Rural Development and the leadership of the governorate, and within the framework of keenness to inspect the conditions of the dams, see the amounts of rain in them, and put treatments in case of any damage due to the continued flow of torrents during the rainy season, and take the necessary measures and precautions to preserve them.
He called on the people of the region to benefit from water in irrigating agricultural lands and to cultivate grains in the first place following the directives of the revolutionary leadership and the Supreme Political Council to reach self-sufficiency, in a way that enhances national steadfastness in the face of aggression and siege.
Mohammed al-Darwani, director of the As Saddah directorate, pointed to the importance of paying attention to barriers and water dams in recharging underground wells, which contribute to providing water for agriculture throughout the year.
He noted the efforts of the people of the region and their keenness to implement agricultural initiatives. He considered encouraging voluntary initiatives a priority for the local council to alleviate the suffering of citizens, and support them in providing and improving public services.
