SANA'A August 26. 2024 (Saba) - The Sana'a Governorate Security Department revealed the details of the explosion that occurred on Sunday morning at the Martyr Izz al-Din al-Qalisi school in the village of al-Qalis in Bani Matar district, which resulted in the injury of more than 30 students in the first grade of primary school.
The director of security of Sana'a governorate, Brigadier General Yahya Al-Muaidi, told Saba that the preliminary results of the report of the forensic evidence and criminal research team showed that the explosion was caused by a projectile, a remnant of the aggression, indicating that one of the students brought to the school a projectile found in a nearby area, and while tampering with it inside the classroom, it exploded and led to the injury of male and female students with various injuries.
He pointed out that as soon as the report arrived, they moved to the scene of the explosion accompanied by the director of the branch of the Security and Intelligence Service, the Criminal Investigation Command, Command, Control, and Criminal Evidence, the Second Region Command and the security of the directorate, and the injured who were ambulance were visited the September 26 Hospital in Bani Matar district, and checked on their health condition.
He praised the efforts of the September 26 Hospital Authority in providing medical services to the injured, calling on all citizens not to tamper with or even touch any of the foreign objects left by the aggression and report them, and to educate their children about this.
For his part, the Chairman of the 26th of September Hospital Authority, Dr. Abdul Nasser Al-Thari, explained that all emergency and medical measures have been taken for the students, whose injuries varied between light and medium, most of which were in the feet and abdomen. Four of them were referred to al-Jumhouri Hospital in Sanaa for venous vessel operations in the feet, he said.
