SANA'A August 26. 2024 (Saba) - Minister of Transport and Public Works Mohamed Qahim and the President of the Civil Aviation and Meteorological Authority, Yahya Al-Sayani, were briefed on Monday on the progress of work in the meteorological sector and the services it provides to all segments of the Yemeni people.
They listened to the Undersecretary of the Authority, Aref Al-Ashram, from the Assistant Undersecretary of the Meteorological Sector, Eng. Mohamed Humaid, to an explanation of the progress of following up on the exceptional weather situation that Yemen is going through during the current rainy season, and the efforts made by the sector in following up on this situation, which was distinguished from previous years in terms of heavy rain.
Qahim and Al-Sayani toured the departments of the sector, including the National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning, and the technical and technical devices and equipment it contains.
The Minister of Transport and Works praised the role played by the National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning by sending early warnings to the official authorities in the country, local authorities, and the general public.
He stressed the interest of the political leadership and the government in meteorological services and their keenness to develop these services.
For his part, the President of the Aviation Authority explained that despite the good level of the National Center of Meteorology in providing its services, it does not meet the ambitions required by the location of Yemen in terms of geography, area, and climatic diversity.
He stressed that one of the priorities of the authority in the next phase is to complete the equipment, conduct an intensive training program, and upgrade the technical staff to make the center among the advanced centers in the region.
