SANA'A August 18. 2024 (Saba) – The Yemeni Authority for Standardization, Metrology, and Quality Control conducted on Sunday a field visit to gold shops and goldsmith workshops in Ibb province to calibrate measuring tools and devices.
The visit is part of the Authority’s efforts to ensure accurate measurements and protect consumers from fraud related to legal carats and weights.
The Authority emphasized its commitment to maintaining high standards and preventing violations.
Engineer Ibrahim al-Ashoul, Director of the Authority's branch in Ibb, noted that the inspection included placing stickers on electronic scales and taking samples for testing.
He urged consumers to check for carat stickers on scales when purchasing gold and silver jewelry to ensure they are receiving products that meet legal standards.
