LONDON August 18. 2024 (Saba) - Arsenal kicked off the new Premier League season with a 2-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers last night in the competition first round .

Newcastle United beat Southampton 1-0, Bournemouth drew 1-1 with Nottingham Forest, while Brighton won 3-0 away at Everton.

Last season's runners-up, who lost the title by just two points to Manchester City, took the lead through Kai Havertz in the 25th minute, with Bukayo Saka adding the second goal in the 74th minute.

Joelinton scored the only goal of the match for Newcastle in the last first half minute .

Newcastle completed the match with ten players, after their defender Fabian Schar was sent off in the 28th minute.

Liverpool also started their journey in the new season of the English Premier League "2024-2025", with a difficult victory over their host Ipswich Town with two clean goals.
