DONETSK August 18. 2024 (Saba) - The Donetsk representative office of the Joint Monitoring and Coordination Center announced last night that the Ukrainian Armed Forces fired ten 155 mm artillery shells (NATO caliber) at the cities of Donetsk and Gorlovka.
"Shell from Ukrainian armed formations was recorded in the following directions: at 21.50 local time (Moscow time) the Dzerzhinsk settlement - Gorlovka city (Nikitovsky district), three 155 mm shells (NATO caliber) were fired," the office said in a statement on its Telegram channel, Sputnik reported.
Since 2014, when Donetsk declared its independence from Kyiv, the region has been regularly shelled by Ukrainian forces.
Gorlovka city, 50 kilometers north of Donetsk, is house to the Styrol chemical and coal mining enterprises.
It is one of the largest cities in Donetsk, with a population of more than 250,000 before the start of the special military operation.
