DAMASCUS August 10. 2024 (Saba) - News reports late on Friday said that a US military base in the village of Kharab al-Jir, east Syria, was attacked by drones.
According to what the Russian news agency "Sputnik" quoted from its correspondent in Syria, explosions rocked the US military base in the Rmeilan oil region in the countryside of Hasakah Governorate, eastern Syria, as a result of being attacked by suicide drones that directly targeted it.
Sputnik also quoted its correspondent as saying that sounds of explosions, resulting from the attack by drones on one of the most important US bases in Syria (the Kharab Al-Jir village base) at the Syrian-Iraqi-Turkish border triangle, were heard throughout the surrounding area.
He confirmed that a number of planes fell in the yard of the aforementioned base (airport runway), with unconfirmed information about human and material losses, as columns of smoke and burning fire rose from the base, which the residents of the area saw very clearly.
Earlier on Friday, a US cargo plane landed at the Kharab Al-Jir base in the countryside of Rmelan, north of Hasakah, coming from Iraqi territory, carrying military and logistical equipment, ammunition and American soldiers, coinciding with an intensive flight of American helicopters and drones over the skies of the region.
