NEW YORK August 08. 2024 (Saba) - Israel persists in killing and displacing the Palestinians in the West Bank, spokesman for the UN Secretary-General said late on Wednesday.
A report, recently issued by UN agencies in the region, indicates that killing and displacing the Palestinians and destroying their houses and the infrastructure relentlessly continue in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, Farhan Haq said in remarks to media.
The Israeli forces killed 16 Palestinians, including two children, and injured others in the West Bank between 30 July and 5 August, he added.
The settlers carried out over 20 attacks against Palestinians in the same period, leaving casualties and damages to properties, the UN official said.
The Israeli persistent bombing on Gaza hinders relief agencies' capability to respond to emergencies, causing "collective losses", he added.
OCHA's report shed light on the fact that "repeated evacuation orders in Gaza lead to endless circle of displacement."
It is increasingly difficult for the Palestinians to receive humanitarian assistance they need amid these conditions, Haq said, as endemic diseases spread in Gaza due to contaminated waters, crowdedness and unsuitable hygienic conditions.
