Moscow - Saba:
Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, stated that the United States would suffer a sharp increase in gasoline prices if Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz.
Dmitriev wrote on his X social media account on Sunday, according to the Novosti news agency, that "oil prices are determined globally, and if the Strait of Hormuz is closed, the United States will not be immune."
He added, "No one is safe from a global oil shock, and gasoline prices will jump."
Iran had threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz in retaliation for the US bombing of Iranian nuclear sites early Sunday, June 22.
Esmail Kowsari, a member of the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, said that the Iranian parliament believes the Strait of Hormuz should be closed, but the final decision must be approved by the Iranian National Security Council.
