ISTANBUL August 06. 2024 (Saba) - Turkish Parliament Legal Committee Chairman Cüneyt Yüksel said that Turkey will head to Hague to apply to join the genocide case filed by South Africa against the Zionist entity at the International Court of Justice.
Yüksel told Anadolu Agency on Tuesday that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has decided to intervene in the ongoing genocide case at the International Court of Justice, and stated that the necessary studies have been initiated based on this decision.
He stated that the Turkish Embassy in The Hague sent a note to the International Court of Justice on May 31 stating that the application for accession will be submitted, and this was the first official procedure.
"As the legal delegation of the Turkish Parliament, we will go to The Hague to join the genocide case against Israel at the International Court of Justice and will submit our application file to the court tomorrow," Yüksel said.
"It is possible for Turkey to make a public statement on how the disputed contract will be interpreted," he added.
"If our application is accepted, Turkey will participate in the entire trial process and will make its statement on Israel's genocide in Gaza clearly," he added.

"Turkey will show the whole world that it stands with the Palestinian cause and against the inhuman genocide in Gaza, in the eyes of international law," he continued.
On December 29, South Africa filed an 84-page lawsuit, presenting evidence that Israel, the occupying power, has violated its obligations under the UN Charter and is involved in committing genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza Strip.
