SANA'A July 30. 2024 (Saba) - The Specialized Criminal Division of Sana'a on Tuesday upheld two preliminary verdicts that sentenced two to death, the first convicted of kidnapping and murder in Sana'a province, and the second a member of the terrorist ISIS who dared to kill his father in cold blood with a gift containing an explosive bomb.
The judgment ruled in the session held under the chairmanship of the head of the division, Judge Abdullah Ali Al-Najjar, on the case of kidnapping and killing the victim Jamil Hassan Nasser Shaathan, upholding the first instance judgment in all its paragraphs, except for the ruling obliging the first convict to hand over an amount of 53 thousand Saudi riyals due to the lack of evidence of that.
The first instance verdict convicted Abdul Qadir Hamid Nasser Ali Abu Ali of the crime of possession of explosives and kidnapping followed by premeditated murder and aggression of the victim Jamil Hassan Nasser Shathan and punished him with death as retribution and ta'zir by firing squad to death.
Hamid Nasser Ali Saleh Abu Ali was also convicted of the crime of aiding kidnapping assigned to him by the indictment and punished him with eight years in prison.
With regard to the case of the convict Mohamed Ahmed Mohamed Al-Maram Al-Awlaqi, the Division ruled to uphold the first instance verdict convicting Al-Awlaki of the crime of bombing resulting in premeditated murder and aggression against his victim's father, and punishing him with death and punishment by firing squad to death.
