ALGERIA July 11. 2024 (Saba) - Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune announced today his candidacy for a second presidential term, amid support from the most prominent Algerian political parties that have a majority in parliament.

During a media interview, according to local media, Tebboune confirmed his "candidacy for a second term," explaining that "according to the desire of many political and non-political parties and young people, it is time to announce that I am running for a second term as allowed by the constitution."

The Algerian president added that "if the people decide to acclamation, you are welcome. If the people refuse, they are free, and whoever comes after me continues the journey."

Early presidential elections are scheduled for September 7 in Algeria.
