Moscow - Saba:
The Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed that the Turkish city of Istanbul remains the venue for negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv, and that the dates for the next round will be determined by the heads of the two delegations.
Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova said at a press conference on Thursday: "We proceed from the premise that Istanbul remains the platform. We thank Turkey for its generous hospitality, its continued warmth, and its provision of all assistance in managing the negotiation process.
The dates for the next round of direct Russian-Ukrainian negotiations will be determined by the heads of the two delegations: our Presidential Assistant, Volodymyr Medinsky, and Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustam Amirov, so we await information from them."
The first round of direct negotiations between Russia and Ukraine was held on May 16 in Istanbul, after Russian President Vladimir Putin called for the resumption of the negotiation process on May 11.
The second round of Russian-Ukrainian negotiations was held on June 2 in Turkey, and the meeting lasted for more than an hour at the Ciragan Palace in Istanbul. The two sides exchanged memoranda on the settlement of the conflict.
Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed on June 17 that the Russian side had fully implemented the commitments agreed upon in Istanbul, noting that an understanding would be reached regarding possible dates for resuming work on the Ukrainian issue in the coming days.
The next round of Russian-Ukrainian negotiations will focus on completing the exchange of bodies of those killed.
