RAMALLAH July 11. 2024 (Saba) -The Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and the Palestinian Diar, the preacher of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, Sheikh Mohamed Hussein, condemned the occupation authorities' Thursday morning on the roof of the courtyard of the Ibrahimi Mosque, in an attempt to Judaize the place, change its features, structure and external shape, and violate its sanctity.
He pointed out in a statement that this attack constitutes a serious harm to the landmarks of the Holy Mosque, a provocation to the feelings of Muslims, an attack on freedom of worship in it, and portends a dangerous escalation against Palestinian holy sites.
He stressed that the policy of the occupation authorities to target and destroy mosques and prevent worshipers from reaching them comes within a systematic and dangerous policy of attacking sanctities and the right to freedom of worship called for by heavenly laws and guaranteed by international laws and norms, adding that the occupation authorities through these attacks aim to deprive Palestinian citizens from performing their religious rites in their mosques, warning of the danger of these practices, which may drag the entire region into a religious war, which will harm the whole world. Not only in Palestine, he pointed out that these violations and attacks come in light of flawed and shameful international silence.
Sheikh Hussein appealed to organizations and bodies concerned with human rights, foremost of which is UNESCO, to intervene to stop Israeli violations against the Palestinian people, their holy sites and lands, calling on Arabic and Islamic countries and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to exert effective efforts towards saving Allah homes in Palestine, and indicated that the language of condemnation and denunciation is no longer acceptable, but rather actual action must be taken to stop the crimes of occupation at various levels.
