JAWF July 05. 2024 (Saba) - A meeting at the Agriculture and Irrigation Office in Al-Jawf Province discussed the interventions of the International Red Cross Mission (ICRC) to support the agricultural sector in Al-Jawf through the Agriculture and Irrigation Office in the Province.

The meeting, in the presence of the advisor to the head of the International Red Cross mission in Yemen, Fares Al-Bashari, reviewed the exceptional situation that the province is going through, the worsening humanitarian situation, the increasing scale of risks and disasters, the decline in basic services , livelihoods, the high rates of poverty and unemployment.

He touched on the work environment and activities of ICRC, and the ways in which the mission can intervene in providing funds and aid.

The meeting touched on the need for the mission to intervene in providing appropriate support, which will be reflected in improving the standard of living of poor families, providing job opportunities for many young people, helping them withstand crises and disasters.

The meeting discussed the priorities of the need for water , sanitation projects , the extent of the community’s suffering in obtaining potable water and its high costs.

The economic security representative in the ICRC team, Salman Qaid, confirmed that ICRC will support the Office of Agriculture , Irrigation with a veterinary clinic and finance the livestock vaccination campaign that will be implemented by the Office of Agriculture and Irrigation at the level of all directorates of the Province.

He pointed out that the agricultural and water needs priorities will be raised to the main center, and an integrated picture of the extent of suffering , need will be conveyed and considered as a priority for intervention within the mission’s upcoming plans.
