Australian MP: I live exiled within my party due to support for Palestine
[Wed, 03 Jul 2024 19:10:00 +0300]

CANBERRA July 03. 2024 (Saba) -Member of the Australian Parliament for Labor Party on Tuesday said she lost contact with her colleagues in the party since she showed support for Palestine.

The prime minister's decision to suspend my membership for indefinite in the party's parliament block left me in exile, and made me lose contact with my colleagues, Fatima Payman added in remarks carried by the Palestinian information center.

The first veiled MP in Australia, Payman was the only parliamentarian who supported a proposal to recognize the State of Palestine, the reason why her participation in her party's meeting was banned early last June.

She thinks that some members tried to terrify her to resign from the senate, noting that she decided to refrain from vote in the council unless the situation changes.
