Gaza civil defense faces challenges amid fuel shortages, ongoing attacks

GAZA June 27. 2024 (Saba) - Major Mahmoud Basal, spokesman for the Civil Defense in Gaza, has expressed concern over the agency’s limited capacity to respond to numerous Zionist targets due to dwindling fuel supplies.

In statements reported by the "Palestine Today" news agency on Thursday, Basal highlighted the critical situation, stating, "The Civil Defense Service in Gaza may cease operations at any moment due to the severe fuel shortage, impacting the safety and well-being of citizens amidst ongoing Zionist attacks."

Basal emphasized that no fuel has been received by Civil Defense crews since the start of the aggression.

He condemned the deliberate targeting of Civil Defense personnel by Zionist forces, noting these actions violate international law that grants immunity to humanitarian workers during conflicts.

The spokesman also drew attention to the continuous attacks on shelters and schools housing displaced persons in Gaza, particularly impacting the already strained health system in northern Gaza.
