SANA'A June 08. 2024 (Saba) - The Yemeni Authority for Standardization, Metrology and Quality Control destroyed today,Saturday, goods that violated the approved standard specifications.
The authority explained in a statement issued today that it destroyed 1,810 packages of cakes that did not conform to standard specifications in its center in Nihm. It also destroyed spring scales in the Hodeida Province branch that violated the requirements of Standard Specification No. “2001-121,” which does not allow these scales to be used in the process buying and selling.
The Statment pointed out that the Authority destroyed at Al-Rahida Control Center a quantity of industrial syrup powder that violated the relevant specifications, decisions and circulars because it contained artificial sweeteners, and a quantity of gas regulators that contravened the approved standard specifications in terms of falsifying the country of origin.
The statement confirmed that the destruction process was carried out in cooperation with customs and security authorities in accordance with the law and the powers granted to the authority based on its role in protecting the health and safety of the consumer.
It pointed out that the authority will not allow the entry of products that do not conform to the approved standard specifications, as it is the citizen’s first line of defense, calling on all importers, manufacturers, producers to adhere to the specifications , conditions of transportation, storage, production, and manufacturing.
