SANA'A May 11. 2024 (Saba) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the United Nations General Assembly resolution confirming the eligibility of the State of Palestine to obtain full membership in the United Nations and granting it many privileges and rights.

In a statement received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs considered the decision an encouraging start towards the international community's support for the Palestinian right to obtain its state, and freedom from the hands of the brutal Zionist occupation.

The statement welcomed the recent recognition of the State of Palestine by a number of countries, calling on those that have not yet recognized to do so.

It stressed the importance of the Security Council assuming its responsibility to submit a recommendation to the United Nations General Assembly to grant the State of Palestine full membership, as this would restore the prestige of the Charter of the United Nations and international law and preserve the cohesion of the United Nations.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on the international community to play its role in ending the aggression and blockade imposed on Gaza, reaffirming the support of the Government and people of the Republic of Yemen with the Palestinian people in their legitimate struggle for the establishment of their independent state with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
