The MoU also came to enhance the skills of workers and specialists in the field of cultural heritage towards creating a common environment for Yemeni and Libyan heritage.

The agreement was signed by Executive Director of the Hudhud Center Hadeel al-Selwi and Director of the National Project for the Protection of Material and Intangible Heritage in Libya Mufida Jabran.

The signing of the agreement came on the sidelines of the First International Conference on Material and Intangible Heritage in the Libyan capital, Tripoli.

The agreement aims to enhance cooperation in the fields of scientific research, training and qualification, preparation of studies and reports, implementation of projects and related activities, exchange of scientific and practical consultations, and archaeological and historical awareness.

Al-Selwi highlighted the importance of the conference which came amidst the extremely complex conditions experienced by the Arab world.

She mentioned the ongoing crimes of genocide in Gaza, where tens of thousands of civilians, and even cultural heritage have not been spared.

Al-Selwi called on specialists in the field of archaeology and cultural heritage to focus on showcasing ancient cultural heritage from the Quranic perspective, which invites people to consider what happened to the ancient kingdoms and civilizations that once existed on Earth, now reduced to mere ruins as a lesson for everyone and for the present nation about the power of God over the oppressors and the arrogant on Earth.

She emphasized that Yemen has been and still is one of these regions where several kingdoms and states have existed throughout history, including the Islamic period.
