GAZA April 18. 2024 (Saba) -Some of UNRWA staffers and other people detained by Israel in Gaza suffer different forms of maltreatment, particularly severe beating and electric shocks, the UN Agency said on Thursday.
Workers detained while at official missions were subject to the same psychic conditions and maltreatment as other detainees, UNRWA added in a report carried by the UN news center.
The staff say they were beaten, subjected to treatment akin waterboarding threatened, threats of rape and electrocution, stripped, humiliated and abused, among other forms of maltreatment, according to the UNRWA report.
While it handed out official objections to Tel Aviv on the reported treatment experienced by its staff in Israeli detention centers, the Agency has received no reply so far, the UNRWA said.
